The Contradiction of Atheism

Universals exist | Universals do not exist

(Hard Atheism)

P1. If God does not exist, then it must be universally true that God doesn’t exist.

P2. If it must be universally true that God doesn’t exist, then universals must exist.

P3. If universals must exist, then God must exist.

P4. If God must exist, then atheism is false.

P5. If atheism is false, then the claim “God does not exist” is self defeating.

(Soft Atheism)

P1. If an atheist necessarily lacks the belief of God, then atheists must lack a belief in universals.

P2. If atheists must lack a belief in universals, then atheists cannot make truth claims.

P3. If atheists cannot make truth claims, then atheists cannot coherently make claims about what exists.

P4. If atheists cannot coherently make claims about what exists, then atheists cannot coherently trust their own beliefs, senses, or experiences.
