Can God Create a Rock So Heavy He Can’t Lift It?
Yes—as long as He wills it to remain unlifted.
God’s omnipotence is not brute force overpowering itself, but the perfect unity of will and action. The paradox is not about whether power can “defeat” itself, but whether a self-imposed state remains true within its intended purpose.
• If God wills the rock’s ontic to be unliftable, His omnipotence wills for it to never be lifted—not because He lacks power, but because omnipotence includes the power to sustain a chosen state.
• The moment He wills otherwise, it becomes liftable.
Thus, the boulder’s “unliftability” is not an absolute truth, but a contingent one—dependent on God’s will.
The paradox is resolved with focus on the Word:
“Can God create a rock He cannot lift” is more accurately asking “Can God create a rock He wills to be unliftable?”
God can create a rock He wills to be unliftable—until He wills it’s ability to be lifted.
Omnipotence is not the ability to fail—it is the ability to define reality according to perfect will.

Can God Necessarily Exist & Necessarily Not Exist?
Yes—and He already does.
God necessarily exists everywhere which exists
